More than a ridge: thermals and sea-breeze fronts turn this north-facing bowl into a proper XC launch, east to Offham or west to the windmills.

The read

Wants N through NNW. It ridge soars, but the prize is the thermic days and sea-breeze fronts, with runs of 7km east to Offham and 2km west to the Jack and Jill windmills.

Is it my level

CP rated to soar; the cross-country potential rewards more experience.

Launch

Launch north-west into the north-facing bowl, about an 800m walk in.

Landing

Top land on the down.

Airspace

The London TMA caps you at 4,500ft overhead, so watch the climb.

Getting there

National Trust car park, locked at dusk. Postcode BN6 8RJ.

The catch

In strong winds the trig point throws a washing-machine rotor behind it. Rabbit holes riddle the top.
