Getting there

THURLE DOWN/STREATLEY WARREN SOUTH Share THURLE DOWN/STREATLEY WARREN SOUTH (Queens/Jacks) Our most used site . Taking winds between South and South-East, it is open all year round. It isn't steep, it isn't high, but it does produce surprisingly good lift in wind speeds of 10-15 mph. Not recommended for low airtime pilots when unstable conditions are presen t or in winds over 12 mph. Trees along the top of the hill do not take too kindly to being blown back into! Localised wave lift, although not common, has been experienced on this site and is usually preceded by rough, sometimes thermic air.

Wind's a touch strong on launch, fine once you're off and out front.

Glassy evening glass-off, best it's been all week. Top-landed easy.

Cloudbase low this morning but lifting, should be flyable by lunch.
